When he sees Jon being beaten by his owner, Govan can't help but feel a pull towards the waiflike slave. He longs to free Jon but at the same time, Govan's attraction to the man is so strong he can't imagine ever letting him go.
Damaged by his past, Jon doesn't understand Govan's kindness but can't help but feel safe around the gentle innkeeper.
With a world of differences between them, will Jon and Govan find their way to love, or will Jon's vengeful owner destroy their chance at happiness?
Jon is a well written short story with characters that pulled at my heartstrings from the very first page. Another wonderful tale from one of my favorite authors; I always enjoy Hollis' imaginative worlds and happy endings!

Jon edition by Hollis Shiloh Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What a sweet, gentle, and compassionate story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I've really come to love Hollis' stories. They are often tender stories with a real nice romantic edge to them. Not a lot of sex which I really prefer.
Jon life was crap until Govan saw him and then everything looked up. Nice sweet
Romance of a man who wants to care for a boy he felt was abused and sickly it is a Sweet romance, Govan is not about dominance or objectifying Jon he just wants to love him.
I really enjoyed this quick read. I could see where the characters could have room for development- I want to know more about how they got where they were when they first meet. If the book could be a little longer the plot and characters could really have a chance to flourish. Great read- perhaps there's a quickie to see where they end up??
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story! The Author has a wonderful gift that will pull you into this story without you even realizing it! I will certainly be looking into buying more books in the future! It's a nice read, with a HEA, I just wish the story would have been longer.
An avid reader in Rock Tavern, NY.
"jon" rushed past me before i was ready for it to end, and before i realized how invested i'd become in the story, in the two main characters. what a clever piece of writing shiloh has done here we are dropped right in the middle of this fictional world, where there is both freedom and shame regarding homosexuality, where there are free men and slaves, where an unlikely but entirely believable relationship begins, and we find ourselves cheering it on and praying for its success. how shiloh managed to weave such tenderness and solidity into such a short story, i don't know. but i hope to read more like it. soon!
I become more of a Hollis Shiloh fan with every work I read. This story is one of the more satisfying ones I've read by anyone in a while. It's well written, without a lot of unnecessary prose. The story is told with a great deal of dignity afforded to the main characters and what passes between them. I liked that very much, having grown weary of writing from some authors who degrade a story through the liberal use of coarse vocabulary and almost sleazy tone. I like it when the author respects the characters and their story. This one's a winner!
This very short M/M short story is Ms Shiloh at her best.
She has this unfortunate habit of creating dismaying fantasy worlds where much is dark and hopeless and it detracts from her fantasy romances as it does here as well.
And yet this time she manages to create a perfect small jewel, extremely concise but not lacking. The story may be predictable but its beauty lies in its simple, neat language and in the carefully paced progression of feelings between the two leads.
Other reviewers say it could have been longer. It could, but it needs not be. An annoying name switch is the only mistake I detected.
